Atsushi Hayashi has pursued his passion in Japanese culinary serving professional authentic cuisine for over 25 years. He started as a young chef in 1984 at Japanese Village South where he grew to love the interactive form of dining of teppan yaki grill. He always enjoyed company, and his friendly vibe always sparked conversations with customers across the grill.
However, after deciding it was time to move towards a new venue, he soon found himself at Sushi Hiro. In 1994, Atsushi’s old friend invited him as an executive chef at his newly opened restaurant, soon to be known as Tokyo Garden. Atsushi gladly took the offer and for 17 years, he served quality food in the heart of Calgary. Finally in 2012, his long time dream of owning his own place came true. To this day, he continues to challenge himself setting new goals, working hard to provide high quality food for those looking for traditional and authentic Japanese cuisine.
